Official announcement for the new Battlefield

Rumors have been rampant for months, but finally today EA and DICE announced the release of Battlefield 6, or Battlefield 2042, as it's proper name is.

The game takes us a few years into the future, where a war between Russia and the US is taking place. According to the first information, Battlefield 2042 will allow up to 128 players simultaneously, will feature seven maps in different parts of the world (such as Egypt, Antarctica, India, South Korea, etc.), and weather conditions will play an important role in the outcome of the battles.

As for the game's modes, currently known are Conquest, Breakthrough and Hazard Zone, with one more to be revealed later. It's worth noting that several new gadgets are included, such as using a grappling hook or invoking a robotic... dog. Beyond that, there will be four classes, a new Specialists system, and a bunch of other stuff (like a sample of the game's gameplay) that will be revealed on July 13.

Finally, Battlefield 2042 will not feature a single-player campaign, and the release date is set for October 22, 2021, with those who pre-order the game getting access to the open-beta earlier than the rest.
